What We Believed as Kids
15.17
So guys, now I'm doing a listing of what we believed when we were kids.
Since I don't have any idea of what kind opening I'm supposed to write, let's just start listing 'em! *Ehm..
1. We could hear the sea wind sound through a sea shell.
By sticking the shell's hole on one of our ears, even though we're on the peak of a mountain or in the middle of a desert, magically, we could hear the sea wind sound through the shell.
As a kid I found that it was very interesting and magical. I collected many shells of different shapes just to figure out whether each shell would give me different sea wind sound or not. When I was older and became literate enough to read books, lol, I then knew it's just the sound of my surrounding wind that would surely be loud enough to hear from my ear since it crashed the inner shell's wall.
2. Red helicopters were kidnappers.
Helicopters often passed above my neighborhood when I was an elementary student. It frequently happened at around ten to twelve o'clock in which it's the time for me to get back home from school. There was a rumor that red helicopters would kidnap every kid with its big hook. I had to walk from my school to home every day. Although it's only around 500 km, it would suddenly feel so far, long and extremely dangerous if a helly passed above me! I even didn't have the courage to look up to check whether it's red or no, I'd just immediately do the most logical and smart survival action: squatting: imitating a rock, not making any move even an inch until I couldn't hear the helicopter's sound.
It was so funny to think about this issue now. Seriously, if it was true, then who were the people inside the helly? Why did they want to kidnap kids? And why should it be from a helly and why was it a red one? Maybe it was rumor and there wasn't any kidnapper helly around us but now when I'm older and not afraid of hellys anymore, I have never seen the red ones. Maybe they never exist that's why people made up that kidnapping rumour or do they? *evil grin*
Oh once more, why did helicopter often passed above our neighbourhood when we were kids but now it doesn't? It may be just my assumption, but I think it's because of the government at that time, as we know that besides a tyrant, our president at that time was a paranoiac, the function of the helicopters were probably to control and spy whether there were kind of separation movements or not in the country. #Scary
3.Pocketing pebbles could prevent us from pooping!
Actually this statement isn't totally a lie. When I was still an elementary student until I was a high schooler, I often practiced this tip that I didn't know from whom I got it. This tip spread like a virus. When I had scout camps, it was always hard to find toilets, even we could find one, most of all the toilets were creepy, dirty, and had little lighting. if I got the "call" in the evening, I'd rather finding two or three pebbles, and voila, I could hold the desire to poop 'til morning. That's awesome. Now if I recall about it, I am eager to know how that can happen. Do you have any idea?
