My Top 7 Japanese Ballad Songs Ever

20.08

Ballad songs are always the best to accompany us in doing daily activities such as writing blog post— like what I am doing now, studying, eating, sleeping and even mourning [I don't want you to, but if you do, I hope your sadness ends soon].

Here are my most favorite Japanese ballad tracks:

1. First Love by Utada Hikaru (1999). It tells about an unforgotten first love (or can I say an eternal first love?), how she will always love her first love even if she finds his replacement later. It’s a sad song. I agree that first love can’t be forgotten, it happens to me, to everybody, I believe (no need to deny it, geez). It’s sweet to remember it at this age. Listening to this song feels like I’m brought to a vast grass field where the summer breeze swings me. It’s so peaceful, makes me don’t want to end the imagination.

My favorite part:

"Saigo no kisu waTabako no flavor ga shitaNigakute setsunai kaori”
Translation:
“The last kissTasted like tobaccoA bitter and sad smell”

2. Mirai e by Kiroro (1998). It’s about a mother’s love… this is a touching song. Listening to this song makes me feel a pain in my chest.

My favorite part:

“Sono yasashisa wo toki ni wa iyagariHanareta haha e sunao ni narezu”
Translation:
“There were times when I hated that kindnessWhen separated from my mothe I couldn't be obedient”

3. Boku No Sei By Tomomi Itano. The lyrics tell about a love quarrel. They both are hurt but one of them decides to ask for apology. It is heartbreaking.

My favorite part:

"Ai ga mizu wo ushinai hibi waretete moZutto kaseki ni naru madeSoba ni iyou"
Translation:
"Even if those days when love wasn't lost in the water are torn to piecesI want to be by your sideOn and on, until we become mere fossils"

4. Sakura no Ki ni narou by AKB48 (2011). It’s about a friend that died at the young age. Just listen and feel the sad tone of the singers’ voice when sing this sad song.. :’(

My favorite part:

“Dare mo mina mune ni oshibana no you naKesshin wo dokoka ni wasureteiru”
Translation:
“Everybody's always forget someplaceDecision that they've choosen is like a flower inside the heart”

5. Anata Ga Ite Kureta Kara by AKB48. Another touching song by AKb48, this song tells about how the members are very thankful to their fans. If you know AKB48, you must have known how hard they struggle, especially at their early years. And there they are, their first fans who supported them and came to their theater before everybody knows who is AKB48 and when everybody ignored and looked down on them.

My favorite part:

“Yume wa nigetari shinaiAkiramenakareba...”
Translation:
“Your dreams won’t slip awayAs long as you don’t give up...”

6. Namida no Regret by SCANDAL. This is a sad ballad song performed by my favorite Japanese rock band. It tells about a couple that decides to separate while in fact the girl is still in love with her boyfriend. Kekekeke… a rocker can be broken hearted too. Rockers are human, too! [Says Candil, the vocalist of SERIOUS—and Indonesian band. Anyway, where are they (SERIOUS) now?].

My favorite part:

“Hontou wa tsuyogari no jibun gaKirai ni naru souna hibi yoYukkurito furikaeruKimi no koe ga kikoeta”
Translation:
“I only feel that I begin to hate myself trying to be strongEvery time I look back at my lossI would hear your voice”

7. Good Bye Days by YUI. Another broken heart song, YUI’s soft voice suits the song.

My favorite part:

“Yeah hello!! my friend nante saIeta nara ii no ni...
Translation:
“If I could say Yeah Hello! my friend, like thatIf I could do that as smiling on my face”

Well. that's all so far. Do you by any chance have any same favorite song as mine? Or do you have any recommended song? Let me know... ^^
